it’s the idea of capturing a moment on vinyl that created the first release of “henk”. after countless hours of twitching the knobs on their machines the dj’s and producers stikdorn and mk braun created a string of tracks that will now see the light of day on their collaborative label. on the a1 a solo track by stikdorn takes you into darker spheres with an acid line and mystic strings/vocals. the a2 is an acidic banger ready to damage some dance floors seriously. on the b-side things get slower and quirkier. b1 is a bit broken and features a trippy acid line to guide you through lots of different drum patterns. b2 is a melancholic ride going seriously deep and mellow. the perfect closing track!
two brilliant, previously unissued modern soul discoveries from the archive of u.t.b. mastermind andre gibson. “my lucky stars” rides the 120 bpm crest, with sharp horns, handclaps, triangle, and a wild guitar solo filling out the four and a half minute ride. “dreamality” cops a steve miller vibe and goes on a spaced-out future funk adventure.
slow-l finally release his first ep named le co -in tribute to one of his favorite place on earth- on his own label slow bistro records, paris-based. 4 tracks mixing genres and ambiance.
ellll continues her prolific 2019 run with a new ep for the expertly curated (and newly revived) paralaxe editions label out of barcelona. fresh off releases on glacial industries and first second, the irish-born, berlin-based shapeshifter takes a creative turn here, setting aside her bassy excursions and techno flirtations for something much more cinematic in scope. rich in melody, this record finds ellll taking an orchestral approach, weaving together piano swells and delicate strings to create a truly immersive listening experience. mastered by rupert clervaux.
galaxians golden armageddon on natural sciences pulls at the virus that is lodged deep within the collective consciousness of mankind. a record challenging our ideas of bounty and material wealth by placing the human race in the palms of blood-sucking cultural institutions. institutions such as big pharma, religious mega-structures, consumer trends and tax schemes which have worked to reduce human behaviour to fetishised objects and de- humanised masses. it s a record that pulls away the shackles, asking for a new trail of thought through de-programming. electro pulses for enlightenment. get woke.
alelah records presents the debut album from polow – in da diggalow, recorded at hilberts grand hotel with tracks produced between 2017 and 2019. dusty instrumental beats, hazy jazz loops and mpc-styled hip hop treats across two sides of a lovingly created cassette tape. a pure unadulterated listening experience that deserves the time and space that a tape can offer. kick back, light up that incense and lose yourself in this one.
taken from the bands new album soul messin, the new 45 this girl features renowned singer kylie auldist, who joins forces with the boys and provides the focus for this mellow, beautiful and incredibly catchy song, shimmering horns ride over this laid back, future deep soul classic which has summer hit written all over it. you can expect this song to be an anthem for 2009! the flipside four n twenty is an instrumental club killer, a deep groove you want want to climb out of.
coming in fresh for 2019 is athens native g.u.s with his 4 track ep mind reflection released as elm 1012. both sides of the vinyl are equally as strong and set the pace for a ride through early uk breakbeat sounds and continue beyond into house with a nostalgic feel but with a futuristic edge.
dmitry distant’s side of the record sees a journey through abstract soundscapes, hefty dark atmospheric techno and electro, rounded off nicely by a dark funk injected remix from sweden’s obergman. all made live with machines, dmitry’s tracks are the authentic type of electronic music the popular scene would have you forget. no surprise then that his live schedule is taking him across europe including a gig alongside the mighty rude66 and luke eargoggle in berlin.
lectromagnetique takes you on a ride through some edgy, acidic and melancholic broken techno experiences. whilst many seek to portray that cold, sci-fi, and industrial vibe in their music, few get to draw on the experiences of living in the pripyat region on chernobyl’s doorstep. as you listen you can feel and visualise places you would otherwise never dare tread or let your mind wander to.
supported by dave clarke (including best of electro 2016), helena hauff, the black dog, mix mag (album of the month) and more.
this release takes you on a airy ride and will have you floating on bass. the sexy minimalistic vocals and jazzy elements add an organic sauce to the tracks that tastes very good. futuristic disco at its best.
without fullcover, an essential 2 x 12- overview of some of the legendary frankie knuckles trax classics.
what else needs to be said? one of the godfathers of our scene, a true classic himself, frankie behind the wheels or behind the boards was simply top shelf all the way down the line. a real original whose influence and touch can still be felt today.
following on from the last dext limited release by otik & dead mans chest we’re kicking off 2019 in fine style with another limited 10” vinyl cut with the same ethos as the previous release’s , 1 rave banger with a killer remix on the flipside. this time we have invited glasgow s party starter and long-time label supporter nightwave to join the crew and it seems like she has been here all along. psychic tonic is exactly what we are all about rolling breakbeats and thunderous kick drums and is the perfect addition to the dext ltd series. and if that s not enough, another of our favourites jerome hill (super rhythm trax) comes along for the ride, and flips it totally on its head on the remix
the blues roots grow surprisingly deep in the finnish music scene. from this fertile ground rises singer emilia sisco, who debuts on timmion with her phenomenal single -don t believe you like that-. with her strong background in fusing blues, r&b and jazz, emilia apparently slips also nicely into the dark soulful grooves of cold diamond & mink. in -don t believe you like that- emilia sets herself into the role of a mistreated lover, who still tries to see a speck of hope in the doomed relationship. by dubbing herself, and accompanying the lyric with graceful harmonies, she succeeds in building a powerful beat ballad, that should appeal to the darker end of the dance floor. there s a special lane in history for soul music this understated. it s cool and intimate at the same time, like there s something dangerous lurking under the surface. so roll up something nice, if that s your thing, and hop along for the ride.
wir begrüßen ripperton unter seinem alter ego headless ghost zurück auf drumpoet community! der schweizer maestro kommt erneut mit einer grandiosen 6-track ep, die von techno-infizierten tracks (“abandon”) über emotionale midtempo stücke bis zu wunderbar arrangierten relaxten listening-nummern, ein rundes wohltemperiertes und hoch-muskalisches paket bietet. while the attention to detail might reveal a production career that spans two decades, the music itself oozes out an undeniable freshness and confirms that ripperton is as hungry as ever to express his talent. from the stripped-down grooves of „see you never“ to the tremendous techno-influenced „abandon“ via the emotional ride of „one day ok, one day not“ or the poignant „real smile fades“, this ep is an absolute delight for your ears, soul and feet!

almost exactly a year after his first ep on byrd out (the kiyadub ep), the legendary andrew weatherall returns with new material for a second release. andrew invited a mate round to his studio to try out a les paul his friend was looking to buy. as it turns out, his mate was ride s (and oasis ) guitarist andy bell. anyway, andrew suggested he test the guitar out over a track he was working on, and ‘making friends with the invader’ is the resulting track, which andrew paired with the ep’s title track ‘blue bullet’. both tracks plough the trippy, cosmic dub furrow, and come in at a weighty 8 and 9 minutes plus. 1000 vinyl only, and 200 cassettes. grab them while you can! mastered by noel summerville. artwork by g.s-l studio
